Create a Beautiful Halloween Decoration

This time, we decided to make cheerful pumpkin-themed decorations. As part of our recycling efforts, we used wooden hanging ornaments left over from last year. You can also paint your motif on an acrylic ball or on wooden boards.

Good preparation is the most important step in crafting. So we first sketched our chosen motif with a pencil:

We chose UMTON Tempera Paints for painting. They are high quality and have excellent coverage. Of course, we applied the paints with a flat brush. Choose the size based on the size of the decoration you’re painting and the number of details in the image.

After applying the basic orange background, we add more shades and details… Try combining cadmium orange in light and dark versions.

UMTON Tempera Paints can be mixed together to create new shades. If you don’t have enough orange, you can mix it from yellow and red. In a pinch, you can use purple instead of red.

Your beautiful orange pumpkin is ready. Now you can finish the background so the pumpkin stands out. We chose neutral black so the bright image on the wooden base would catch the eye right away. :)

Remember to set aside plenty of time to paint and enjoy the process. And if something doesn’t turn out right, don’t worry. Mistakes are part of crafting.

If you’re worried that you might “decorate” your surroundings with paint as well as the base, don’t hesitate to use a drop cloth. An old canvas worked well for us, and we’ll use it again for our next crafting project. Plus, the canvas backdrop gives photos a special charm. Give it a try!
